Empaako Village & Empaako Foundation

Empaako Village is more than just a destination—it’s a gateway into the heart of a community that lives at the foothills of the Mountains of the Moon, a sacred and ancient land. Known as the origin of Black civilization. This land is where humanity’s story began and where the spirit of our ancestors still thrives today. Our village, nestled in the Bunyoro and Tooro regions of Uganda, is home to a people who continue to honor and preserve their rich cultural traditions, passed down through generations.

The Empaako Foundation was created with a mission to protect, preserve, and share our cultural heritage. We work tirelessly to ensure that the customs, stories, languages, and ceremonies of our ancestors are not only celebrated but also passed on to future generations. Through educational programs, cultural exchanges and immersive tours, we invite both locals and visitors to connect with the deep roots of this sacred land.

The Empaako—a name given to a new life in the community as a blessing from the ancestors—embodies the sacred bond between the people and the spirits of the land. It is this connection that drives us to share our culture with the world and protect the heritage that binds us to the Mountains of the Moon.
